Radeon 9700pro - wow!

Just bought this thing from CC to see if I liked it and I got +5000 points in 3dMark2001
System is a xp 1700+, 512 pc2100, epox mobo,
System before w/ gf3 ti 200 = 7500
System after w/ Radeon 9700pro = 12500

Wow!!

I didn't notice any difference in visual 2d Quality though...not sure what everyone is talking about there..

This is a pretty useless thread but thought it might prove interesting to some!

turn on anti aliasing and aniso to max run above 1024x768

its the details in 3d not so much the 2d, but the 2d is good 😉

Have you tried some actual games? To this day I'm boggled why some people get so excited over worthless 3DMark scores. 😕

yep, theres no VGA voltage problems when you're running at 1280 or below for just about any card. me, i run 1600, so i need either ATI or one of the good nvidia board makers (leadtek)

Download the Codecreatures (beware of popups) demo/benchmark. That ought to look awesome on a 9700. 1.2MB screenshot. That shot is on a GF4 Ti4200 running at 300/576 speeds, with FSAA enabled (don't remember what level). It was a slideshow, maybe 1 frame every 2 seconds. This is a very intensive benchmark. Even at 1024x768 without FSAA, it managed around 15fps.
 
Same here. You also have these people that are so into that 3DMark crap that they post the scores in their signature. Pretty sad.

My resolution is and always has been 1600x1200. I can notice a huge improvement from crt's to lcd's so I know my eyes aren't bad! I just couldn't tell a huge diff in 2d quality.
 
Wow, you definitely have something weird goin on. Yes I have played multiple games with it. Runs great!
