radeon 9700 refrseh rate problems SOLVED

hey guys... just got my beautful FIC Raedon 9700NP

gameplay is AWESOME in BF1942, a definite improvement from my GeforceMX

1 problem thus far... refresh rate is stuck at 60. I changed it in windows (to 75), but the moniter still reports 60. Additionally, in the ATI CP, under displays tab, the moniter is reported at doing 60. i left every other setting at defaults, what is going wrong here?

There's a well-known problem with the newer ATI cards and non-DDC monitors in Windows 98 and ME (it lets you select the other modes, but still displays only 60Hz as you describe, discussed at 60Hz problem in Win 98/ME). However, I see from your sig you are using XP Pro ... so, in that case, try de-selecting "use DDC" in advanced display properties and see if that helps.

There's also the potential 60Hz issue in 3D gaming modes. That's fixed by any of a slew of tweaking programs such as Rage3D Tweaker, radeonator, powerstrip, refreshforce, etc.

using XP... unchecking use DDC worked, as my moniter is an old booty generic 17 incher... i was looking to grab a new flat 17 inch crt, but seeing as i just got laid off, i think my $230 spend on my video card it starting to hurt now oh well, i'll live
