Hi,

Got it today.
After installing ... I had awsome 3dMark 10287
1.4 tbird - old MSI K7master
default clock settings

doubled my mark from 5100 (using Radeon 7500)

But ,

I was overclocked on my t-bird to 1533 133 x 11.5
After installing the card ... I had lockups in Q3A
So ... I reduced multiplier to 11 but still had lockups

Now Im at default again ... bummer.

I also noticed that Powerstrip wont allow thos high settings mentioned during the overclocking of the gigabytes version of this card.
(I even installed the old version of PS 3.20)

I believe ATI put a limit on the clock settings.
Or, .... is the Pro version of this card allow higher settings?

The radeonator doesnt work at all BTW.

At any rate ... the I got no great increase in 3dMarks oc'ing the card above 340.20/327.86

Why would this card hose my CPU overclock?

Both the lack of OC'ing ability and the crashes may be linked to a PowerSupply issue. What is the current rating of your power supply? Ati has not put any sort of limit on the clock setting.

Looks like gwlam beat me to the punch. I was looking up the power consumption of the 9700 while posting. All I could find was >40watts. Any definitive numbers?

edit: I just looked at your system specs. Is that PS 450W?

Using Enermax 465

... maybe move the power plug for the card to different PS lead?

I have problems with Powerstrip anyway ...

After I change clock settings (hit apply) ... all the settings and options disappear from the program display ... blanks and N/A appear in clock graphics display.
I have to quit the program ... then re-open it to see the settings again.

This happens in all versions I tried, 3.20, 3.25 and 3.26 versions.

I have a new MB to install as soon as I get my sound card delivered.

Hi,

Installed my Abit KX7-333

This mb RAWKs !!!

I dunno wot I did to my 1.4t-bird ... wont post ... I'm usin 1.2t-bird now ...
Check out da scores ... heres my sys specs.

1.2 t-bird oc'd 7x182.9 = 1280.1 @ 1.80v (1.85v actual, 365.7 FSB)
PC2100 2.8V - strong and high settings by SPD

Radeon 9700 oc 340.5 / 328
(anything higher lowers 3dMark - I wonder if theres proper thermal compound under HSF unit)
(afraid to take it off ... the HSF pins are mounted tighter than a usual HSF ... so Im stock)
(maybe there are different chips under the OEM card - any1 know yet?)

3Dmark 11,560
Sandra CPU -
--------- Mband - 2554/2382
--------- MMedia -

Just thin wot da new 2.6 AMD will do on this MB. (shutters ... maybe 22,000 3dM?)

(waitn for da 2.6)

Anyone everthink of pci/agp dividers? are they on specs 66/33? I've heard a lot of people with 9700pros that have problems with oc procs. In every instance they kill the oc and like majik it works again. More problems with agp 8x boards than 4x but problems all the same.

:p
