I am using a Retail ATI 9700 pro card for a few days until my new video card makes it in. Currently I can't get the DVI to work. The monitor turns on but nothing is displayed, no post, no windows startup, and no windows. Currently using over VGA and I would to get the DVI working.

Thanks
Chucko

Replaced the cable with a dual link cable it works great now. I wonder why it worked before with a bfg 6800gt but not with the other cable. I didn't use the video cable that came with my 2405, can anyone tell me if it dual link?

Thats odd. My 6800GT and X800XT have both been fine with the stock cable.

EDIT: Make sure with the 9700 Pro that reduced DVI frequency is checked off in the ATI control panel options tab.

Ive read when people changed from a 2005FPW, to a 2405FPW, that the 2005FPW cable didnt work on the 2405FPW LCD. I had both at once, but used to corresponding cable, and didnt have any issues. There must be something special about the 2405FPW cable.

I wasn't using the stock cable, I was using a cable from a previous 19" Dell monitor. I am not sure where I put my stock cable, I was just wondering if it was a dual link cable. If it a dual link cable I may look a little harder for it, and take this cable back to Best Buy.

I think Dual Link cables are full of pins, there is not a gap of missing pins in the cable. Could anyone tell what their stock cable looks like.

My stock cable has

2 sets of 9 pins and also a large flat ping on the other side.
