ATI says it needs a power connection to the Power Supply Unit. Could I just take the power connection from the Floppy Drive and insert it into the Radeon 9700 Pro instead? Is that an option?

The 8500 DV model also needed a power connector used to power the firewire port.

My 8500 DV used the same connector as the floppy style one but I see on ATi's website
the picture is of a hard drive style connector....

I can see its a small connector on the top of the card behind some cap's....

Supposedly it will take a standard 4pin molex connection. Sounds like it has some hefty power requirements.
I'm waiting on the NV30 and I hope that it doesn't need that much power as well.

I'm confused... standard 4pin molex connection is a hard drive connection to the PSU or a flopy drive connection to the PSU?

The connector on the card is made for a floppy connector, but I think the cards come with an adaptor, so you can use the larger connector made for hard drives and optical drives, too.

It's a standard floppy style connector on the 9700 card ATi packs a small cable that has an extra one.
In case you have run out floppy conectors or its not long enough to reach.....

On my 8500 DV card I just used my floppy drive connector since the PSU had a long length for it....
Plus my PSU had 3 floppy style connectors one on a short line 2 on the long lines....
