Radeon 9600XT or BFG FX5500 OC: which is faster?

I got the BFG at Fry's today for $30 AMIR but now I see at BB a 9600XT w/ HL2 for $100 AMIR.
I suppose the Radeon would blow this GeForce out of the water?

BTW, both are 128MB models.
 
Considering that the 5600 cards are much worse than the 9600XT I'd guess, without bothering to look at benchmarks on the main AT site, that the 5500 is dog-awful and only better than the broken-legged turtle known as a fx5200.
 
I tested my PNY Ti4200 with 3DMark03 and it only got 1636 3DMarks. It didn't run the "Game 4 Test" as it is unsupported.
I then installed the FX5500 and it only got 1163 3DMarks. I then finished HL2 and found the image prettier but slower. Too bad.
 
Well you are paying $70 more for better performance, but you do get HL2 with it.

How much is HL2 over there in the US and do u want it?

Yah, just got through trying to play UT2004 with the fx5500 and man what a POS. It's not nearly as good as my old Ti4200 with half the memory. I think it's a return while I can item. I may get the 9600XT but I would have to sell the HL2 thing for it to really pay off.
