Just thought I'd share my experience with my new 9600pro. My current system is: Athlon XP 1800+, 768MB PC2100, Shuttle AK31 motherboard. I picked up a retail 9600pro today at Best Buy ($199 - $20MIR) to replace my 8500.

Stock speeds on this board are 400/300. Running at stock speeds w/ Cat 3.5 my 3dmark2003 score was: 3162

After trying a bunch of different settings using just radclocker and stock cooling I finally settled on 515/340 with a 3dmark2003 score of: 3779

I pushed it up to 550/350, but I was getting some minor artifacts, so I backed off. With better cooling though, who knows??? Regardless, a 20% increase with simply stock cooling = not too shabby :D

What card was ths! Is it a retail ATI card? I want to buy it now! The 9600's might actually be worth it!

Probably not. I'm gonna get some rounded cables and rearrange my drive layout to hopefully get some better airflow. When I opened up the case to put the new card in I noticed that I had an IDE cable laying right acrross by CPU fan. Reeeeeal nice... No wonder it's been running at 53ºC :Q

I just got my refurb FIC 9700np from newegg for $170 shipped.

I flashed it with the FIC 9700Pro bios, and overclock to 392/338.

My system is comparable to yours- 8RDA+, Athlon 1900+ (1600+@150bus, PC2100).

3DMark2k3: 5402
