Radeon 9600 running only 60 Hz at 2048 x 1536?

Can anyone who has Radeon 9600 tell me if it is true and this chip is only capable of 60 Hz
on a resolution of 2048 x 1536?

The 9200 chips can do this at 85 Hz without problems.

I know its true on my AIW 9700 pro (60Hz), so I'd say probably true on the 9600 as well (according to ATI's chip specs)

It appears to be true. 60Hz is the max for 2048X1536 on the 9600 cards. Here's what ATI's website has to say about it.

Edit: you're also right about the 9200. Just like the 9800 series, the 9200 can do 2048X1536 at 85Hz. Perhaps the 9600's only have 350 MHz RAMDACs...

The RAMDAC according to ati website is:

Dual integrated 10-bit per channel 400 MHz DACs

All the 9xxx cards have 400Hz RAMDAC, so its not related to the RAMDAC speed.

I thought so. That's weird though. Something else makes the 9600 cards have this limitation then. Apparently the 9700 series was the same way - 60 Hz @ 2048X1536, while the 9200 and 9800 go up to 85Hz.

Honestly, this issue has never come up for me or anyone I know...
