Radeon 9600 Pro vs. X600 pro

for my new build, sonic and zakee suggested :

SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON X600 PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-Bit, DVI/TV-Out, PCI Express, Model "587L" -RETAIL Lite Box

and


POWERCOLOR ATI RADEON 9600PRO Video Card, 256MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "R96-D3G"

they're both on the high side of my budget, which i'd like to keep below $130.what do you suggest to match up with a 90nm 3000+ and an ASUS "A8V Deluxe" VIA K8T800 Pro ?
would it be better to get a diff board with pci express? I heard there's gonna be some major advancements in the pci express department...would it be a better investment?

oh, yes they're outdated, but i dont think i can afford anything over $120 right now..and also are these cards capable of watching TV on the comp? thanks!

If you're building a PCIe system then you can't even consider the 9600 Pro as it's AGP. I'd personally go for nothing less than a GeForce 6600GT if you're going PCIe. If you're going AGP then 6600GT or Radeon 9800 Pro.

oh, no hardcore multiplayer gaming...since i'm still stuck on 56k here..but i'd like to be able to comfortably play things like tycoon games and maybe if i can get my hands on it, a copy of wIII just to play campaigns and stuff.

it looks like i'll probably stick with this comp for another 3-4 years

the computer's budget is set a $800, but right now it's already $725 from newegg without a copy of windows..dam..

oh and just a little side question...is there anywhere cheap where i can get a copy of XP?

best (cheapest) you can do is probably newegg OEM XP home edition.
