radeon 9600 dvi edtv problem?

Had my mce 2005 machine running fine on my ed plasma, then when I went to plug a usb cable in I hit the switch on the power supply, upon restarting my machine it is booting to the wrong resolution and I cant see anything (anything over 800*488 wont display), I can boot into safe mode or vga mode but neither let me change the resolution back to what I need. Any suggestions other then dragging another monitor into the room, booting off of that, so I can run ati's utility (needs to be 1024*768 or higher to run) and fixing it that way? It would be nice if I could do it without moving monitors as switching displays is a nuisance and if the machine were to crash in the future having a quick fix would be good.
