I found this in the fs/ft section in this forum. It has been hard modded / flashed to 9700 pro. I asked party to ship first which they kindly did.
After installing this video card I found that 3dmark 2003 and Aquamark were very dark when they ran. Only the Nature scene in 3dmark appeared clear.
I also noticed after useing the video card for awhile my eyes began to hurt. I dont know what is causeing this as I didnt change any settings on my monitior
The next morning I came in to use the computer and found the monitior was in suspend state. I moved the mouse to awaken it from this state only to find it wouldnt. I had to press the Reset button when I did this I got video signal again and proceeded to go back into windows. Once in windows after a short period the monitior blinked for a second then went blank again. I had already been in power management and set it so monitior would not shut off. Once more I had to press the reset button to reboot the machine to get video card signal. This has happened so much I had to remove the radeon and reinstall my G400 Matrox in order to use the computer again

Here is what the system is
MSI K7d Master L [dual processor amd board]
Two 2400+ barton laptops at 2600+ [ these are perfectly stable with previous card]
Pcpower & Cooling 510 watt powersupply
OS is Windows 2000 pro with SP4
Directx9 is installed
Newest Catalyst Drivers installed from ATI website

I have tried disableing these items in bios , which did little if any good at all
Disable Shadow for Video
Disable Fast Rewrites
Disable AGP Anti liaseing
Disable AGP Compensate

Some of these settings I dont understand and could use some help in setting up the bios correctly or guidance in what drivers are best for this motherboard.

Any help is greatly appreciated ,

Hugs

may be your powersupply? i mean i know u got a 510w psu but, u also got a dual cpu set up so u got twice the cpus, and more memory to power........then the 9500 (which is r300 core) needs its own juice, and when workin hard draws a healthy current off the rail (not sure which rail mind :S) so even tho u have a 510w psu it doesnt matter......a good quality 400watt psu would probably outperform a low quality 500watt i mean i never heard of pcpower &cooling

Pcpower & Cooling 510 watt powersupply is rated #1 powersupply

36 amp on 12 volt
40 amp on 5 volt
30 amp on 3 volt

dont think its the powersupply that is the problem

It's not the powersupply. I had a radeon 9500np before my current one that I softmodded. It had slight artifacting in CS when I looked at clouds in the sky on a few remote maps. 3dmark and other games ran just fine. I started getting headaches and my eyes were always hurting. The card you bought did not softmod 100% successfully. I'm not sure if it's undetectable artifacting that causes the headaches and eye strain, but I'm pretty positive when I say that it's due to the softmod. This is just from personal experience, though, and is not technical.

Now, for the loss of monitor signals...I think that's also due to the softmod not being 100% successful. You're probably going to want to return the card, I imagine. Hope this helps.

the person i got the card from stated it ran perfectly for them , that they also bought it already modded in this form by another member on this forum

i am wondering if there is any other drivers to try other than catalyst ones?

I've got (2) modded 9500np's, one which is 100% is hardmodded, the other which artifacts ever so slightly is softmodded. Never have a problem with either one in a suspend mode. The one which artifacts is on another comp which I don't use much, but i never had eyestrain from it, and my girls don't complain about it.

It's possible that it has a problem which may not be due to being modded.

I'd try it in another computer if you could. If it does the same thing send it back.
