Radeon 9500 Pro - scrolling lines

Got my RMAed 9500pro card this afternoon.. installed it and I'm getting these dark scrolling lines down my SyncMaster 753DF monitor.

The refresh rate is set at 85Hz and I've tried different drivers ..... setting the refresh rate at 60Hz seems to get rid of it though. Fastwrites are off

My monitor can't seem to go over 8H5Hz at the 1024x768 resolution anyway..

my previous 9500pro didn't do this... is this ANOTHER bad card?

It's not necessarily a bad card, the 9500/9700s were more susceptible to interference. A lot of people had this problem. Some solved it by using the dvi adapter, I had it on 2/3 monitors, some solved by changing refresh rates, etc.. Hit Rage3d and search "scrolling" and you'll see what I mean.

Well..I rmaed my 9700Pro a second time, but that time I asked specifically for a revision 3 card, as they didnt have any such problems. ATI gave me a rev 3 card. It was brand new and has worked perfectly.

Use the DVI-VGA adapter and hook your vid card up to that instead of the straight VGA. Doing that does reduce the clarity of the desktop but I don't think @1024x768 85Hz it should be much of a problem and it should get rid of your rolling lines or at the very least reduce them enough to be noticeable only when looking for them.

My first 9700Pro had it. Could never get rid of it. My RMA replacement doesn't have it at all. My old 9500 Pro had it, but I was able to correct it by setting the refresh rate to 75hz.

The card should have come with a DVI to VGA adapter. You can try using that instead of the default VGA output to see if it helps. This has worked for a lot of people over at Rage3D.
