ok, so i just picked up a radeon 9500 pro from best buy after my 9500 didn't mod into a 9700 like i had hoped. anyways, rivatuner still reports it as only having 4 pipelines instead of 8 and my 3dmark2k1 and 2k3 scores are the same as when i had the 9500 installed.

what's going on?

Okay... correct me if I'm wrong, but... you bought a R9500 Pro, in hopes of turning it into a 9700. It didn't work. So you are saying its not performing any better than a regular 9500 Pro even though the 9700 mod didn't work?

I'm thinking it works just fine... I don't understand what you are complaining about.

I think he said he (burnt up/couldn't mod) a 9500 and then bought a 9500 Pro, but isnt noticing a difference.

What kind of processor are you on?
What Games are you playing?
Have you tested Frame Rate?

If you PC isnt fast enough to cause your card to bottleneck then you were probly better off with the 9500 (if it's not burnt) -it's cheaper.

Drivers, you gotta get the newest ones.

guys, thanks for the responses

instead of removing the drivers from the Add/Remove Software panel, i had to tell the OS to uninstall the drivers. then when in reinstalled the drivers, it recognized the new card as a 9500 pro, which performs very well, i must say, and overclocks like mad (380/297 stable with stock cooling).

anyone interested in a radeon 9500 128 MB non pro with a vantec iceberg cooler installed?
