Radeon 9500 Pro -9700 Pro *Done*

Hi. I'm running a Athlon 2100+ @ 2100 ghz and I have a Radeon 9500 Pro. I might get a 9700 Pro. How big of a performance difference would I get? Or would it be bottlenecked by the CPU? Thanks guys.

Your CPU is fine.I had a 9700 Pro on a 2100+ and its a really nice card.I can't say how big a difference from the 9500 Pro But I would assume a pretty good performance increase.

This might help you out a little bit, if you're familiar with 3D mark 2001 se. I had a 9500 Pro 128MB in my system and got a score of 11,200 with an Athlon XP 2100+ at stock speed. I then put the 9700 Pro in and I got a score of 13,950. So if that tells you anything..

do you run at high rez or with FSAA? the 9700 pro is considerably faster than the 9500 Pro at high rez and with FSAA.

I do use 3dmark its about 12000 now. I OCed my CPU to 2120 mhz. My LCD is only 1024 x 768. But I want to turn on 6x FSAA and 16x AF. My question is... will CPU bottleneck Vcard performance?

no your CPU will not bottleneck the VC

As far as turning everything up with a 9700 Pro and your current CPU, I would'nt worry about it. Your current system will more than handle it. But unless you intend to "max everything out", I would'nt upgrade at this time. Wait a month or two.

well lol i was going to buy it...ironically my mom who doesn't know how to use internet and email...her comp has the 9700 pro a better video card than mine i'm just going to switch it
