I figured this was the best place to put this. I know that with the newer versions of the Radeon 9500 np you cannot do the hardware softmod to make essentially a 9700 pro. However i have been reading a little about a software d=mod that does essentially the same thing. Does the software mod work with teh newer cards with the inline ram?

It won't work. It works with the older ones with L shaped memory since they were made on a 9700 pcb, and as such had a 256 bit memory bus. The new ones are not built one the same pcb, so they'll only have a 128bit bus.

You can still find the ones with L-shaped memory though. If you get one that softmods its pretty darn satisfying. [brag]I found a used one that was tested to softmod successfully. It's running at 382/312[/brag]. The Omega drivers have an install option to do the softmod for you and an overclocking utility. Its very easy.
