Radeon 9500 and XFree86 4.2.1

Is there any way to get this to work?
Has anyone done it?

I hate running at 640x480 with 8-bit colour.

Especially when I have a Radeon 9500 and a 19" flatscreen trinitron

I know ati has accelerated drivers for the 8500 but i dunno where to download them
I thought this meant they were making a new policy of supporting every card after the 8500 but I guess they lyed

nvidia makes much better linux drivers, they support their cards on release and update the drivers regularly
that is why I got a Geforce4 and not any ATI junk

guess you have to hope that xfree86/dri will support yur card unless there are firegl drivers and they work
I know ati makes linux drivers for their firegl cards just find one with the R300 chipset and their drivers (if there are any yet) should work on yur 9500

So far I've only found drivers for the R200, I tried them anyway, but couldn't get them to work.
I am a _nix newbie, and running FreebSD 4.7-release and Gnome2.
I would have gotten a Geforce, but their TV-out is total crap, and I use my computer to watch a lot of anime, and for checking out my AMVs on a television

e-mail ATI and ask them where their linux support is
that's the only way we are gonna get it
