Hi folks... I'm a n00b to the overclocking world, so I was wondering if you could give me a little bit of insight. I'm upgrading my card for my Athlon XP 2200 rig (with 768 MB PC2100 RAM) from a GeForce MX440. Performance from that to the new card is not really an issue. The two variants I can choose from for the same price are a BBA 9600 XT, or a Sapphire 9500 vanilla (128 MB) and then an arctic silencer, and the two will cost $75 each. I've got the dough, now i'm looking to see what your opinion on which path to take. Also, a nice n00b guide to OCing the 9500 would be helpful. Thanks much!

These drivers will do it all.

No overclocking...this is soft-modding...I'm unsure about the risks of softmodding, but I figure if it's just resurrecting dead chips there can't be too much danger? Maybe someone else can provide insight on this. I don't think there's any danger.

Besides artifacting, overheating, and leaking caps, no. But then, you'd notice artifacting and lower clockspeeds to make sure that didn't happen ;)
