radeon 9500->9700 softmod for linux(redhat9)?

anybody know if it is possible to softmod a radeon 9500 to 9700 with linux

i always used the omega drivers for my win2000 system but recently changed over to redhat9

i succesfully installed the latest ati linux drivers from the ati site and ran an UT2000 benchmark but it's kinda slow allthough gl_gears give me about 1200fps in standard mode.

any help would be appreciated since i can't find anything on this matter
