I have a Radeon 9100 64mb AGP card and I just tried playing the Painkiller demo. It loads up fine and I can play for a few minutes and then the screen goes black and I get kicked to the desktop with a VPU recovery error window. I tried lowering all the settings in the demo with no luck. I also disabled the VPU recovery option on the ATI settings and disabled fastwrites...no luck....I tried some older drivers 3.7...etc but no luck there as well.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I am running Windows XP pro, AMD XP1600, ECS L7S7A2....with no difficulty running COD, BF1942 or Halo....

I also tried the demo for Joint Operations and get the same error as Painkiller except that I never even get into the graphics engine.

No luck with 3.7 or 3.10 still get kicked to the desktop after a few mins with the same error. Even tried reinstalling direct X....

Guess I will not be buying the retail game :-(

It ran fine for me with a 128MB Sapphire 9100 / Cat 4.3 (before I got my FX 5900XT). :)
