Radeon 8500LE - How high will it go?

I just ordered a Radeon 8500 LE (the 250MHz/200MHz one, not the 230/200 LELE), and I plan on slapping one of these on it and scrounging up a few more mini heatsinks for the RAM (I have four, need four more).

What I want to know is how high can I OC it before I need to up the voltage. Since this is a "Built by ATI" card, I'll assume the core voltage is 1.75v and the RAM is within specs (Instead of below like some of the older AIBs). I know that this will vary form card to card, but can I expect 300/250 or will it be more like 275/240?

I don't have the card yet (come on newegg!), so I haven't tried anything yet.

Oh yeah, you might want a link to the actual card.

Check it out at newegg.com You'll have to paste this in the search box: N82E16814102244 (It's the ATI RADEON 8500LE 64MB DDR CRT/DVI/TV for $75. Of course when I ordered it last week it was $80...)

you sure it isn't clocked at 250/250 by default? my built by ati 8500le shipped this way. both mine and my roommates clocked to 300/300 with stock voltage and stock cooling.

I beleive stock core voltage should be right around 1.65volts. Usually it is a combination of: ram speed rating/ram voltage/bios vers. that will determine what the card will actually do on the ram side of things.

If it's a made by Ati LE, it should probably have 3.6ns ram. If it is a Saphire card, it may have 5.5-4ns ram, or who knows what else. It should be 250/250 I would think at default. If it is infact 250/200 then you are in trouble. It probably has 4ns ram, and you might get it to go to 275MHz as long as the ram voltage is at least 3.2volts, and you flash to a differnt bios vers.

Oops, sorry about that, it has 3.6 ns RAM @ 250MHz. According to what I read, the "Built by ATI" cards have a core voltage of 1.75 and the ones made by Sapphire Tech and others run at 1.65. That could be different now, I don't know. I'll find out as soon as the card arrives by sticking my meter on it.

So I should be able to get to 300/300 without upping the voltage then? Great! Now I just have to hope I didn't get a reject. :)

Thanks guys.

A good portion of the Sapphie 8500Le cards i've seen use 5.1ns samsung ram, and sapphie does clock the card at 250/200 or 250/250 or even yet 230/230. Most other 8500le third party card maker DO use 4ns ram that not unusual and it should easily hit 275/275 if not higher at stock voltage and cooling. I think ATi themselves are the only one who use 3.3ns ram on the 8500le...

I recently got this card. Made by Sapphire, clocked at 250/200 with 5.0ns RAM. Goes to about 290/220 before gettin unstable.
