OK here is the issue....

I think the drivers may have gotten corrupted as aI was pushing my new pc3200 ddr over 440+ ddr...I have since backed off for stability and reasons of cpu ocs much higher at lower mhz...

The video on the screen will crap out with vertical colored lines during 3dmark (diffrent point everytime) and also when I run DVD2avi when I am making a project dv file form vob files....

Things I have done...

1) downclocked
2) raise vcore
3) raise vdimm
4) raise agp voltage
5) ran memory anywhere from 300-430mhz ddr
6) ran memory at cas 2 and cas 2.5 all timings
7)reinstalled catalyst drivers
8) installed old working cd drivers

NO go!!!!

Uninstall and have xp revert back to standard vga card...no problems!!!!

So I think it is drivers....

How do Imake sure I have gotten them all cleaned up....

This is a powered by ATI card but I did download those specific ones from ati....

Any ideas???

Go over to the Rage3d forums. I beleive there is a sticky in the Driver section of the forums as to how to completely remove old drivers.

Thanks killrose....

I wanted to also state these are not crashes....Winxp does not even know it has crashed...It just thinks I shutdown improperly when I have to hit reset button. Normally any program error or crash in xp would be followed by a error report at next startup where it often list the display dll of the adeon 8500/8500 le as the culprit...I have had a few like that but weeks ago...

Solved...It just needed a thorough reg clean I guess....

All works fine....Even oc'd to 2.768ghz which is prime 95 unstable at 10 min at 1.71v (wont go higher on the vcore) it ran with no crash....
