Radeon 8500dv driver problem..can't even run Unreal Tournament

I switched a week ago back to windows 2000 because of the horrible SCSI performance, but I have yet to get my 8500dv to work at all in 3d games.

In every game, it is slow as hell. Loading up BF 1942, even the little EA intro is about 1FPS.
Unreal tournament is unplayable

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like your AGP settings got messed up by smartgart in the ATI drivers. I know I downloaded a utility for my mother board chipset to force the AGP to 2x and it fixed the problem for me. It was a long time ago so I don't remember everything to a T. If you go to rage3d forums and do a search on smartgart you will find your answer. Hope this helps.

Thanks...

I CANNOT get AGP to stay ativated. I even tried running hte cmd "smartgart" and setting it that way to no avail.

I am at the rage3d forums now

Thanks for the help. I exhausted all the solution proposed on those forums so back to windowsXP.

After reading about SCSI and WindowsXP, there is no problem at all so back on it goes.
