Has anyone seen these 2 cards compared? I've looked all over and can't find a single review or overview of the 2 cards performing against each other. I can only mix and match reviews, but my conclusion becomes flawed. If someone with 9500 moved from the 8500, would you please stand up? :)

Someone really needs to make a database with all the results and testbeds. Then make a web component graph that you can pull down to manipulate. :D

Well, I dont know of any direct review/comparisons of the two, BUT digit-life have got both in their last 3Digest (a massive comparison of all the current graphics cards on the market with regards to how well they stand up in high/mid/low end tasks and cost-effectiveness).

If you can interpret the data they are giving you, it is a useful thing. You can find it here.

I checked out digit-life since day 1. Still no direct comparison between the 2. Although they often have interesting 3D Digest every month.

Tom's Hardware has compared all the video cards out (except the gf fx) is his video card round up. you should get a good comparison there.

Saphire 9500 NP 128MB bulk from newegg, 9700 NO artifacts at 320/290.

THe 9700 is in my xp 1.81GHZ rig and I have a 8500LE 128mb (300/300) in my 1.8A@2.43ghz rig. The athlon rig is so much faster, 10k vs. 12k 3dmarks. 2d is about the same, but with fsaa and AA thats where the 9700 takes off. On my intel righ at 1028x768 with max settings, quake 3 lags, in the athlon rig with the 9700 mod I can run any game at almost any resolution with max settings smooth as silk (1.81ghz vs. 2.43ghz).

Hope that clear things up for you.

btw. if anyone needs help doing the softmod just PM, i have a premodded driver where you can install easily.

I have been retail 8500 64 mb past 1 year overclocked to 290/290 my highest 3D mark score was 8600.
This is on A Epox 8k5a2/1600xp overclocked to 1.75 (10x 175 fsb), maximum memory timming, wd 80gb 8mb HD.

Recently bought a newegg 9500 np same system not overclocked 3dmark score was 9600 not a dramatic jump.

sorry remedy, my PM limit was reached, but to answer your question. Its Gone great as you can see in my above post. I tried 330 core/ 290 memory a while ago and my scores went up about 100pts in 3dmark. I only get artifacts when I overclock the ram past 290, then those checkboards show up.
