Radeon 8500 TV out

When I boot up with my monitor and TV connected using the SVHS lead both screens will be totally blank.
The only way I can make things work is to unplug the SVHS lead boot up, the monitor then works. Once the XP logo comes up I plug in the SVHS lead and everything works fine. I have installed the latest drivers for the Radeon 8500 and my monitor no change. Can anybody help.
