Radeon 8500 tv-out works except when i play movies

Hi there, i recently bought a radeon 8500(it works great by the way), today i connected my tv-out and it worked fine but when i opened win media player and started playing a movie i couldn't see it on the screen, everything aroung it was ok. I tried Quictime and 2 other players same thing. I checked ATI's site and i searched at Google no luck. At first i thought it was some copy right thing built into windows but this didn't happen with my geforce mx. Does anyone know whats going on?

thx.

Enable Theater mode. Click the Overlay tab in the advanced section of Desktop Properties. It should be a check box somewhere on the bottom. This'll force them to be full screen on the TV but it'll display.

Hi thx for the reply, i went to the overlay tab and i see no option for theater mode,

What i see is 5 sliding bars that control brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, gamma and under that a check box saying "Display warning message" and a greyed out tab that says default.

You might want to upgrade to the catalyst 2.2 drivers, I believe Theater Mode and Overscan are available natively then. Another good bet is to just get the Rage3d tweak Here. It will allow you to enable theater mode, it will also let you tweak many apects of your card, and enable more screen resolutions, overclock..force refresh rates ect. Nice utility that I've used for a while now.

Hi thx for all the advice the problem has been solved i uninstalled then reinstalled my drivers now it works. The weird thing is i had already done this before but oh well its working now.
Thx everyone for all your advice.
