Radeon 8500 Retail

- Core = 270MHz
- Memory = 230MHz (460MHz DDR Effective)

Radeon 8500 DV

- Core = 230MHz
- Memory (SAMSUNG) = 190MHz (380MHz DDR Effective)

I expected it to be slower than the Radeon 8500, but not this much slower =/

It's a fair margin slower true, but when you consider benchmarks still seem to put in on-par with a GF3 Ti200 one can't complain too much about the card... especially when you consider the incredible feature-set.

The 8500DV is not that slow. I have mine running at 203/190 and get 6168 in 3Dmark2001 with a 1.4 Athlon. I have saw were people are overclocking it to 275/205 and it is running great for them. I have yet to overclock mine I'm to busy playing games, editing video, playing slideshows of my pictures on my TV and watching TV and making DVD's of old shows of Mash:)

It isn't a shocker that the 8500DV GPU can get up to 275MHz (non DV version is default @ 275), it is too bad we can't customize our own ram to get the higher memory bandwidths these GPUs crave. I'd certainly like my own Radeon 8500DV paired with the new Hynix 128Mbit DDR memory chips with frequencies up to 375MHz (750MHz DDR effective). 12GB/sec of memory bandwidth on a 8500DV would be very sweet indeed ;)
