Radeon 8500 - refresh rate locked at 60

Hi, I've seen the threads on the nvidia and xp refresh rate problems, I'm having the same problem with my radeon 8500 and XP.

I've loaded ati new drivers, viewsonic 815 drivers and no matter what refresh rate i choose, its stuck at 60...

any help would be appreciated.

I'd suggest heading over to Rage3d.com and hitting the forums there. Lots of FanATIcs there and they are more than happy to help a fellow ATI owner. They also have a Radon 8500 Technical Support Forum.

XP does the same thing as 2K. You should be able to go into .your advanced desktop setting and change it If not, go download powerstrip, it should solve all your problems. If you just added your video card (lol which I'm sure you did), also might want to download the .inf file for your monitor and reinstall it.

Ok, I tried rage3d but no luck. Many people with same problem, none of the solutions worked. (unituner, multires, etc..)

So, I unplugged my monitor, (Viewsonic P815 21"), and plugged in a KDS Avitron 19" and the resolutions for that monitor change without a hitch...

I've downloaded the viewsonic INF file from their web-site but no luck.

If this combination triggers any helpful responses I would be very grateful.

All it takes is one registry key change to fix it. Do a search here and at Rage3D. I posted the fix for it 6 months ago with the original Radeon at both forums.
