Radeon 8500 Quality Problem In CS!!! (Now, FPS Problems too!)

My Retail Radeon 8500 came today, and so far seems to be doing okay ... but in CS (cs_italy map) there's a strange z shaped distortion when I'm running and looking at the brick ground texture. I haven't tested the card in other games or maps yet, but am very disappointed that there's distortion. I have the newest drivers, and have changed settings around, including selecting the smoothvision option. Is there something I can do to fix this?? The smoothvision anti-alising looks great, FPS is no lower then 70 (with 10+ programs running in the background!) and overall I'm happy ... but I'd like to get this distortion solved.

umm... all i can say right now is that i don't seem to have that problem when i play CS on my radeon 8500, so when i have time, i'll try to post my settings and stuff,

but right now, i'm still in the mid of college finals here at berkeley, so kinda strapped for time ...

Okay this shouldn't be happening. My FPS is dropping to 60-70 range when I'm around a lot of action. The Radeon 8500 shouldn't run at anything less then 99fps. Right? Hmmmm... help?

I think CS has some sort of 'maxframerate' command in it. You are getting 60-70 cause that is probably the default max. Im not positive, but check that out.

Try disabling the Truform technology stuff in CS and the new ATI drivers by using these commands in the console before you start a game:

ati_npatch 0
ati_subdiv 0

FPS problems in CS? I am using a Radeon DDR 32, and get pretty much constant 100fps (max in CS)

wonder if it's my motherboard or cpu that's the problem. I'm generally having problems with choppyness in every game.
