Radeon 8500 or Geforce3 Ti200

Well my Prophet 4500 has pissed me off for the last time. I am trying to decide between a Radeon 8500 and a Geforce3 Ti200 but am favoring the Radeon because I want to do graphics artwork. Does the 8500 have better 2d performance? I know the cards are kind of equal on 3d.

Also and most importantly, will the cards run on Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server?

From what I understand, the ATi cards 7000+ have superior 2d to the geforce cards, and the 8500 would defintely work in 2000. I own a radeon and 2 quality is awesome, I did have a gf mx200 but I swapped out for the ati.
