Radeon 8500 might have a problem running too hot ???

i found this worth posting...

There are some reports around by people *claiming* that the radeon gets unusual hot and this might be one reason of lockups...eg. playing games and then lockups after 30 mins playing. Would make sense !

Some said the problem can be fixed bei either good ventialtion/cooling...and turning off fastwrite in the AGP/Bios....

Hmmmm....how much are those case-coolers again ? 🙂

My guess is that this is reported my many ready made PC owners or people that don't bother with case cooling...

nothing what a overclockers own personal "windtunnel under da desk" (tm) couldn't handle 😀

makes me wonder if i'd should look at the vid/ram coolers and heatsinks at newegg....dont know if my system has enough efficient cooling...(enlight 7237)

(I have a normal sunon 80mm in front of the case, i have a alpha8045 and quiet 2900rpm sunon on my cpu...and this one small fan on the radeon....hmmmm.....)

the 8500 I have doesn't get hot at default speeds. runs all day and night just fine. with stock cooling I can get it to 299/300 without artifacts. At 300 the core locks hard in 3dmark2k1 once dragothic starts. I have tested the mem all the way to 320, but after 300 for mem I get artifacts once the vertex shader test starts. Needless to say, the 8500 in my possesion doesn't have "hot flashes" =) I'm not saying they are all the same though.
