My system seems to lock up during gameplay on my radeon 8500. After about 10-15 minutes of gameplay - it freezes with no warning. I've read many posts about this problem and I still haven't found a straight answer. My system configuration is:

Athlon XP 1800+
Abit KG7 mobo (not KG7-Lite or KG7-RAID)
256 MB PC2100 DDR RAM
Radeon 8500 64 MB DDR Retail (obviously)
Latest ATI Drivers
Windows XP Home Ed.

If anyone can help me solve this I would be VERY grateful. THANX!

Hmm.....first thing I would check is the drivers. Are you using the official ATI drivers or some leaked drivers? If it's leaked drivers, try uninstalling
them and try the official ATI drivers for Windows XP. XP should already have the 4-in-1 drivers present but I suppose that updating those drivers
could be an option......but.....I wouldn't mess with it unless all else fails. Are you overclocking the card? Are you overclocking the processor?
If you are overclocking the video card, try putting it back to default speed. Also try that with the processor if necessary. I'm not much of a computer
guru so I can only offer VERY limited help. These are just some suggestions that I thought of. Good luck! You'll get it lined out....just give it a little
time and patience. :)

KingBob00,
First of all, welcome to the anandtech forums! Now, as far as your situation goes, which games are you experiencing the problems with? Is it all games, or just one game in particular? Some games have certain issues like the one your describing. Secondly, which drivers are you running? I am running a radeon 8500 with the 6043 beta drivers, and they seem to be pretty good... I would suggest you check out the rage3d forums, as they have lots of posts concerning the 8500, including information about which drivers to use, and information concerning similar problems to yours. Also, just in case it's a heating issue, try playing the games with the side of your case off for awhile.

Remove ALL references to your old card's drivers from the registry and your sustem. ALL of them.
