Radeon 8500 has stellar image quality

I received my 8500 today and I must say it has the best 2d videoquality I've seen out of any videocard.

In the past I've never been able to go over 1152*864 on my cheapie Princeton EO90, and I assigned this to a problem with the monitor, and not the videocards. Now, for the first time with my 8500 I can get a clear desktop (out of both VGA outputs) at 1600*1200. I've had lots of videocards with this monitor, from TNTs, G400s, Geforces, and they all had the same problems. There is no contest.

I have to say I'm very happy with card. Even if the 3d performance isn't quite as good as expected, the image quality makes it well worth $200.

congrats. i just got mine too! 😉

im happy with it. everything has gone smooth. Im still doing benchmarks and what not, but my games are smoother. Esp since i came from a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP.
<sigh> if only they had come out with the Rampage....

anyways, glad u like your card. 🙂

I had a Cardex GF2 MX dual-vga bobard before. The secondary VGA was poor to say the least.

I'm still having a bit of a problem configuring the 8500 correctly for my HDTV. It has the same problem as the original Twiview drivers did: It doesn't like non p&p monitors. I got it working by configuring my primary first, then turning off p&p check and swapping vga ports. Still doesn't work quite right. There has to be an easier way.
