Anyone notice this? I have a Radeon 8500 64MB retail, and when WinXP starts, the picture flickers or ripples from the bottom up for a few seconds and then it's fine. Using the Catalyst 3 drivers.

Anyone have aguess what the deal is? I checked ATi's site and found a flicker issue for DVI monitors, but I have a CRT.

Noticed it too on my 8500 128mb version (not LE). But I never considered it a problem.

Are you overclocking the card upon startup maybe? If it's like my G3 that I overclock on startup it pops on and off when coolbits hits the startup sequence.

I haven't seen that on WinXP and my 8500 on my other PC... if I did, and everything else worked fine, I wouldn't consider it a problem, either.

It's not overclocked at all, I was just curious if it was me or what. I guess that's the way it is.

Thanks everyone! :D

I have seen mine do that when the PC starts up, and its on the WinXP Pro screen with the scrolling little thingy at the bottom. It will like flicker or something for one second.

I've seen it too. On mine It's just the monitor running at 60 Hz refresh on startup, (windows startup screen) until the video drivers kick it up to 85 Hz for the desktop.

same here ... with a sometime a small green square popping up in the middle of the screen for an instant ... but the drunk radeon soon regains consciousness ... and everything is calm again ...
