I have a problem running Counter Strike with the ATI Radeon 8500. Anytime I try to run OpenGL in a resolution that is larger or smaller than that of my desktop resolution, Counter Strike fails to display properly in game. The picture is larger than normal and is shifted over, large areas of the screen are also cut off. The problem does not occur however, when I run Counter Strike's resolution and my desktop resolution the same. This is bothering me because I want to run Counterstrike in 1280x960, but that resolution is not supported on my monitor (KDS XF-9P). The maximum resolution I am able to run at is 1152x864. Help or information regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the system specs, BTW:

AthlonXP 1800+
Abit KR7A-RAID
512MB PC2100 Nanya
ATI Radeon 8500 Retail (Driver version 6.12.10.3286)
Creative SoundBlaster Audigy OEM
Seagate Barracuda IV 80GB ATA100 7200RPM
Toshiba 16x
Lite-On 24x10x40x
WindowsXP Pro
Via 4-in-1 4.35
Via AGP GART 4.10

i think this is your problem.. its your monitor.

Setting your desktop to the res that doesn't display properly in CS will tell if this is your problem. Normally, most modern monitors will store the screen location for that res so you only ever need to adjust it once. Other monitors don't, and unfortunately you have to move the screen centre/width/height manually.

If this doensn't fix your problem, consider this a bump :)

This a modern monitor. It's the new KDS X-Flat series. And it's not the monitor, because, well, it's only Counter Strike that has the problem, not Quake 3, not Unreal Tournament, only Counter Strike.

What I meant to say here is that, the maximum resolution I am able to successfully play Counter Strike and my desktop concurrently is 1152x864.

Can CS run at that res.? I heard that's the highest it'll go. Have you seen or know people that play it at 12x9?

Yes, I personally run on that resolution on my other PC (1.2GHz TBird, EPoX 8K7A, 256MB PC2100 Crucial, Hercules GF2 GTS 64MB).
