anyone know where's a good site to find info about the bios flashing and where to download the new bios?
 
You can download the flash util at http://www.xcl-clan.com/. Its pretty self explanatory, you can flash your 8500 with the OEM, Retail, or an improved retail BIOS. There are different versions (PAL and NTSC) but they only differ in the way they transmit signals to a TV because UK and US TV's recieve them differently.
