Radeon 8500 and Max Payne

this isn't exactly video problem but since video card is related, u experts help me out.

this is my spec : t-bird 1.3g , 256mb pc133, Radeon 8500 128mb

visual is fine when playing this game only thing bothers is game is a bit laggy and many times terminates by itself

even one time had the "blue screen of Death" where memory is being dumped or something like that : "irq not less then equal...." but now it's just termintes when going to next chapter.

it's seem to do with my memory but I do not know where to begin. Help anyone?

Does this only happen with this specific video card? Sounds like something else to me...

I've had "stuttering" performance before, and it's often caused by a driver problem. Try getting the newest/recent drivers for everything, and you might have to reinstall Windows (I did once before for studdering).

Perhaps it's just a bit slow on your CPU, but it shouldn't be stuttering all the time.

I do have the latest catalyst driver on Win2k.

as far as reintalling windows...hmm.. idunno i wouldn't want to do that......

if it is driver problem then i'm stuck i guess

If you have a Via chipset based motherboard try installing the latest Via AGP drivers. Just the AGP driver set.

Yes i do have the via chip set for my mobo , asus a7v133 to be exact, and I try to find new driver for agp...hadn't thought about that

The game patch(should have mentioned it specifically). Many of your problems are common to an unpatched Max Pain.

You are right...checked there website and looks like they have game patch for my problem....will try to see how it works...

updated the via driver and the game patch...now intro starts
and when i try to get to main menu the game exits to desktop with message :

"MayPayne.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. you will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created "

I've even reinstalled the game and still...no solution...now another problem pops up....

It might be because you are using the same "old" desk-top icon which is now not directing to the right location of the game. Get into the game files and find the icon for the start-up of the game and click on that icon. If that works, then create a new short-cut to the desktop with that icon.

Maybe that will work..dunno.
