I am trying to choose between these two video cards (the price difference is not important to me). Does anyone have any thoughts on the relative strength/weaknesses of the two?

Specifically, I am interested in:

1) The 3D performance difference
3) Whether or not the VIVO options of the AIW are actually worth it. I have a tivo already and my cable requires a digital cable box, so I won't be using this to watch tv. But if the video capture works well, I could see some cool uses.
3) Whether or not the 64 MB while be a big performance hit

Thanks for any help.

Easy choice really.

The AIW has all these extra features like video-in and capture and industry-leading features for manipulating same. The R8500 128 (retail, made by ATI doesn't).

The R8500 has dual display capabilities, the AIW doesn't. Unless you think that TVO is dual display.

The R8500 is clocked at 275, the 64 mg AIW at 250. For gaming, the R8500 is faster.

Either one is more than adequate for any 3d application on the market.

You either want TVI and video capture or not.

The AIW 8500DV is clocked at 230/190 not 250. The retail R8500 of course comes in at 275/275 as you stated. If you want the full 275/275 in an AIW product then you need to jump up to the AIW R8500. If you do so, you lose the two IEEE 1394 FreWire ports, you also only have video capture/editing into analog rather then digital which the 8500DV can do.
