I don't know, this poll is stupid beyond words. Does anyone have one or both of the cards? I didnt think so.

This is like asking which is faster, an amd at 2 ghz or a P4 at 2 ghz... useless.

Well, an AMD at 2 ghz would obviously be faster, since it does more work per clock cycle.
Comparing these two however, is less obvious. it would seem that the X800XT is still goign to be, based on pure speed, faster than the NV40 at any given clock hertz. Its not gonna be a big enough deal that will make me buy it instead of geforce 6800GT though. The idea of a 2 year old tech on steroids sporting no new features and having no chance of performance boost through drivers doesn't sit well with me.

i would say 6800U but who cares, they arent going to be clocked the same

what would be faster: a 9800XT clocked @ 5950 speeds or a 5950

this is really a pointless fanboy poll. these seem to crop up daily.

Anyone who voted X800XT at 400Mhz beating the 6800 Are just showing how stupid they are! ..

Just like those people who think a P4 Running at 2Ghz beats and AMD running at 2Ghz idiots who know nothing !

Well a 9800 and 5950 are not the same 8 pipelines 4 Vertex Shaders VS 4 pipleines 3 shaders

The X800XT and the 6800 both have 16 pipeline and 6 vertex shaders they are the same but clocked leap frogs apart! thats why i think it would be very interesting to see what Core would be better!

I hope some reviews test this in time!

Why don't you buy both and test it for us. I'm sure everyone is dying to know.

That's what he's getting at: just because one company is faster at a given clock speed doesn't mean that their technology is necessarily better...just different ideologies.

Yes it would be nice to actually see these cards for sale. Maybe the fish killed them all or something.

Or they did it to rebel against the obvious fanboyism at work here...

i'd guess it'd be more effecient and better. but that's different from what people think too.

all subjective.

Why ask the question when you already know the answer? Nothing more than a flamebait thread even if it was not intended to be.

6800U 400/1100
X800XT 500/1200

Both cards compete well with each other at stock speeds. Lop off 100MHz from core and 100MHz off of the DDRIII memory of the X800XT, and , well, to put it nicely, the 6800U would bitchify the X800XT.
However, the X800XT will not come with 400/1100 clocks. So this would only be a theoretical guess at best.

Yeah true! that could be it too but those people who voted wrong started the flame! :)

Actually, it does. This means you use less RAW power, meaning you are being a more intelligent engineer - well, that's the way I see it.

I don't know if we can say that anyone wins. It would depend on the application and what settings are enabled, but I would lean a bit towards the 6800 Ultra.

what a dumbass post.. what's the next poll?

Radeon 800Pro 12 pipes VS 6800GT 12 pipes
who do u think would win if both these cards had the same # of pipes?

What If? Since 800XT will never be at 400mhz, comparing these 2 cards is stupid.

The answer you are looking for is 6800Ultra is more efficient per clock cycle - YES. Think about it, since 800xt and 6800Ultra are fairly close for the most part, a 30% reduction in clock speed on the 800xt puts it.....well if you asked this question you are either real bored, or don't want to think.
