%&@#* Radeon 64MB VIVO

This POS card is about to get flung into the nearest wall.

First the drivers would not allow TV-in. um, it is a VIVO card right? VI is video in right? It just flat out would not work. No blue screen, no fan fare. Just "Sorry, go to hell." Could ATI maybe please write a REAL Win2K driver?

Now, I've gotten it to work - with older beta drivers mind you. It supposedly captures video, BUT only if its not to long. I've got plenty of HDD space (75GB on RAID). The CPU is FAST(900). Memory is plentiful (.5 GB). If the caputer is a long one (I don't know how long is too long) it just ignores the fact that its supposed to write a file to the drive. IT JUST FREAKING SKIPS IT. NO MESSAGE OR NOTHING

I feal as though its $200 down the drain... My GTS is faster. OK the image quality is nicer with the Radeon, blah blah blah...

Relax man, the Radeon 64 VIVO is actually a really good card. I ran into these same problems when I first bought my card. If you're running DirectX 8, upgrade to 8a, this will fix your video-in problems using more recent drivers. If you're still running DirectX 7, i'd suggest upgrading to 8. I'm running the latest beta drivers (7078) and everything is working fine. I haven't tried to capture anything yet, but it should work alright if you upgrade to 8a.

Some users have commented that MMC must be installed last when drivers are updated. Here is a thread
with users have similar problems and success. Hope it helps.

hmmm... the new drivers seem to work at least. I'll play more later.

You guys have saved the card from CompUSA for a couple more days anyway!!! 🙂

I don't have too much experience with the mmc in win2k...sorry, but what's the problem? I am sure oldfart or taz could give you some hints.

The ATI software all works great in my win2k machine, always has with every driver version I have tried, including the new 3102 beta drivers. Have you tried a clean install?
