Radeon 64MB VIVO($202) or Geforce Ultra($425)?

The Radeon costs half of what the Ultra costs. Since I'll be needing a card soon, I can't wait for the NV20. I'm leaning towards the Radeon, and just use the money saved for an NV20+ next Fall.

By the way, it will be going with:
Thunderbird 1.2GHz(266 FSB)
Asus A7M266
256MB Mushkin PC2100
Live MP3+ 5.1
IBM Deskstar 45GB
Sony G500

I'm probably going to run 98SE, maybe ME. Are there still any compatiblity issues with the Radeon. I'd heard they had problems with Sony monitors.

Depends. I like running games at 1280x1024 and so I got a Pro. The ATI AIW Radeon was nice, even when overclocked but had minor problems (which are probably fixed by now) and just didn't perform as fast overall as my older GTS. I don't miss my Radeon at all. I did miss my GTS, especially when I was having strange problems with the Radeon.

The Ultra is nice if you want to spend that kind of $$$$$. Once the NV20 is out, that card will be worth a fraction of what you paid for it. The Radeon is a far better deal, especially if you use the Trade Up Program. You can get a 64 meg VIVO for $155.

Get a used Ultra I got mine for 300 bucks it is worth it man the graphics KICK ASSSSSSS!!!!!!!! Way better than RADEON 🙂

If you want performance (FPS) and you are willing to pay then get the ULTRA. I love it. Fantastic performer across the board.

I can't say anything against the Radeon, because the price is right and it is an excellent performer, too with great features.

It all depends which "little voice" you are going to listen to. The bad one is telling you "ULTRA" and the good one is telling you: "Radeon". The decision is yours, and you got to ask yourself: "Do I feel bad or good?

If you haven't already, get enlightened with this head to head (well...sort of) showdown between the GeForce Ultra and the ???Radeon 32MB DDR??? The end result may surprise you but if you are value conscious and looking at price/performance ratios, I think you might make the same choice.
