theyre out at rage3d!!

(not sure if this is a repost... i found out a couple mins ago about them and just installed them)

ok well the install was smooth and there seem to be a couple new features in the device manager setings n all but has anyone actually tested them for any games?

my cs seemed kinda sluggish (yes i did ati_npatch 0)... maybe just me... had a lotta hd lag too so that might be it just a coincidence..

can anyone tell me whats new in them or point me to where i could find that out?! thx!!

It is a repost. You can now turn Anisotropic Filtering in D3D if you didn't know. Go do a search at rage3d forums for Anisotropic Filtering and somebody made a small proggie to turn it on and off.

I don't know what it is technically but then again who cares? What it does is allow more surface detail at greater distances so the ground or a wall does not become blurry and featureless. It only works on the 8500 (natch!).

Anisotropic filtering works on any Radeon-based chipset.

I heard that these newer drivers were in general slower than the ones that were already out. I have the 3276s.

jaggrey, perhaps you should try 'em for yourself. Then again, if you have any doubt just wait for the official release. My experience with 'em is positive: significant speed increase and still no problems. You will find some mental midgets jabbering about how their InsaneTurnip 5000 scores went up or down 200 points while failing to tell you that was no more than a 5% difference between single tests and thus well within an expected degree of variance. I can tell you that my benchmark score was the same (2% higher) but actual performance in some games jumped 20% or more.
