Radeon 5870

In other words, with the current drivers the gsod will not occur and the gpu should run stable?

If you are using older drivers and having this problem, the GSOD, then I would update from the link above. Hopefully that'll take care of your issue. It's the first place I would start anyway.

The only time HIS 5870 ref. gsod's is when I'm o/cing it w/o enough voltage. (using 10.8 Cats still)

The newegg reviews of the 5870s have a very high rate of people talking about GSODs. Can it possibly be that so many people are all using the wrong driver version? If it weren't for that, I would have considered the newegg 5870 deals worth going for. Instead, I'm waiting for the GTX 560 to come out and see what price shakeups result.

No issues with mine..I downloaded whatever the latest drivers are off AMD's site. It's been running for a few days (and many hours of BC2) with no trouble.

I recently purchased the $200 (after rebate and coupon) sapphire 5870 at newegg.

I got the GSOD. I updated everything I could (bios, drivers, re-installed windows, etc). Nothing helpped.

I RMA'd to Sapphire (since the card had a rebate and I already cut out the UPC). Got a replacement and still get the GSOD.

I have researched around the Internet and some people seem to think that the GSOD issues started to reappear in drivers 10.10 and onward.

I have since installed 10.09 drivers and have not had a single GSOD. I only did this yesterday, so I'm not in the clear just yet.

Sometimes instead of the GSOD, I would get the "Display Driver Stopped Resonding" error and windows reloads the driver. This also appears to be happening on some 6xxx cards as well.

I suggest trying 10.09 drivers. If that doesn't work, RMA and see if a replacement fixes it.
