Radeon 5870 Crossfire PSU requirement?

I've already posted this under the "Video Cards and Graphics" section, but I'll post it here, as well. Maybe it proves useful to other people looking here, since it's also PSU related.

Alright, long story short - My GTX 295 died, and the company (not being able to replace the card) made me a good deal on 2 x Radeon 5870 cards instead.

I've used a Corsair TX 750W PSU for the GTX 295, but wondering if it's enough to power the two 5870 cards, too.

I just have a single 3TB HD and a DVD drive in the machine.

Any advice would be useful, thanks.

With everything at stock, that PSU should be fine, but what are you doing with your system in terms of standard speeds e.g. overclocking ???

Yeah, I'm just going to run at the default clock speeds.

Picked up the cards today and everything is working smoothly, so far.

Thanks for the help.

If you don't plan to overclock, a good(!) 400W PSU with almost 400W on the +12V rail(s) is more than enough, for one HD5870.
Sadly, most 400W Units have only 300W or less on the +12V rail, like the Sharkoon Rush Power...

Though you're plan on using 2 of those, a (real) good 550W unit (like the Antec Truepower New or 500W Enermax 87+) is enough, if you want to be on the safe side, a (real good!) 650W Unit would be recommed.

So your TX750 more than enough, even 2 GTX480 are possible...
