Radeon 5830... Will AMD including a $50-$60 game make a difference with you?

That game isn't worth $50+ to me, so it doesn't make much of a difference to me.

(oh, and it's "couldn't care less", not "could care less". I try not to be a grammar nazi, but that specific mistake annoys the hell out of me for some reason)

hmm well i guess you can always sell the game back out? and take the price difference as the cost for thre 5830. even then its not alot.

Not really. If I wanted the game, I'd have gotten it already. Unless it's a hassle-free voucher for a AAA-unreleased title, I wouldn't offset the cost from the card.

Perhaps if it included 2 AAA games, even then I'd have to think about it.

Nope. The only time a game actually matters to me is if it's included with one card that I'm already considering, and not with another (customer support and warranty being roughly identical between the two).

(I don't normally play M rated games so I could care less about the bundle personally.)

oh, and it's "couldn't care less", not "could care less".

This is probably Beyonce's fault because of her damn song, now everyone says "I could care less" which means you actually care since you can still afford to care less, instead of "I couldn't care less".

Anyway, back on topic, I'm also not a fan of bundled games. At best, I suppose there might be a small percentage of 5830 buyers who would think it's cool. I can't fault AMD for this effort, though, a small promo is much better than no promo, I suppose.

Thanks for the posts. Its basically what I already considered... The HD 5830 is still a bad deal in most peoples eyes...

Just wanted to confirm that among the video'ers :)

PS: I changed 'could care less' to 'couldn't care less' per vj8usa and jvroig :)

The only time I'll consider what software is bundled with the card is when I'm already set on the card I want. After that, I'll decide based on what the manufacturer has done differently than other manufacturers and at what price I think those differences are worth.

The 5830 needs to use a smaller, custom PCB, something no larger than a 5770 or 5850, because honestly +20% 5770 performance on a 5870 sized board blows every circuit in my brain, its so disgraceful.

I mean, I get the whole "We ordered too many 5870 PCBs and now we gotta get rid of them" and all that but Jesus.

Then they'd have to drop the price to a nice round $200 dollars or so.

And finally they'd have to get rid of the bundled MW2 and bring the price down to, say, $170 or so.

Then I'd CONSIDER buying it.

I am not sure, but perhaps this was unavoidable due to the 5830 being a harvested part? Or perhaps you are right and it is just that they have 5870 PCBs in abundance, who knows.

I'm sure they don't have too many 5830s anyway, just like all harvested parts. They probably don't want to make this a great part so they can avoid having to cannibalize 5850s in the future. Perhaps this is a very temporary solution, harvest as much as possible now, sell them as 5830s, then when the process improves some more, 5830s can be phased out gradually and no one is quite unhappy since they weren't that great to begin with, and AMD will be happy to have shipped maybe ~50,000 of these harvested parts in the long run.

It makes zero difference to me, bundled games irritate me more than rebates. Just lower the darn price already.
