Radeon 5770 can't push my tv to 1080p?

I just recently bought a new video card a radeon 5770 and I am unable to turn the graphics past 720p in games. On the desktop I can go all the way up in resolution. Also I can not past 60 hz on the desktop or in games for the refresh rates am I missing something? I read many posts about the refresh rate issue, but have not found any solid solutions. Need help thanks. Also my tv is a 60" Sony Bravia 1080p at 120hz.

Is your TV "3D Ready"? Because TVs that say 120 or 240Hz, are really only 60Hz, with fancy interpolation. They don't take a true 120Hz or 240Hz input signal. The only true 120Hz TVs are the ones labeled "3D Ready".

Also, the resolution issue. You should be able to set the resolution at the desktop, and games should just use that resolution.

No it is not 3d ready but it does say standard 120 hz so I guess I assumed it would run at 120. Also I tried increasing the resolution on the desktop then going to game and that still did not work. And these are games I was able to go higher in resolution with my old video card and tv so I' m not sure what is the problem is. The tv or video card but one is limiting the resolution.

Dvi to hdmi connection, it allowed my last samsung hdtv to operate at 1080p. Games I have tried Dead space 2, and Bulletstorm both games that have worked with my last setup.

Your TV is still only a true 60hz TV, so it will always set at 60hz.

Whats the resolution on your desktop? I know ATI/CCC has some weird/complicated settings when it comes to using TV as monitors, so I'll let someone with more experience speak on that.
