Radeon 5350

I have 1GB DDR2 on my HD4350 too (not that it's used at all). It probably doesn't cost them anything more - also, looks like ATi's pushing for 1GB standard on every model, regardless if it's needed or not. Most of the HD5xxx series are 1GB.

I'm wondering though... Will those two cards be 64bit+GDDR5? Or perhaps HDHD5570 will be 128bit+GDDR5? Anyone knows?

Why the hell are they putting 1GB of memory on the 5350? That's so pointless it is offensive.

The average consumer in the market for a low end card doesn't know anything about model #s, gpu generations, shader count, etc. They look at 2 cards and see one has 512MB and the other has 1GB and they both cost ~$50. They are going to buy the 1GB card.

Exactly. Whether 1 GB will matter or not is not important. For manufacturers, it's more of what will sell. They better start offering "pointless" 1GB memory on it, because if they don't but their competitors do even if the extra memory is pointless, goodbye customers.

And I *love* how all entry level retail cards come packaged.

The outside of the box has a dramatic rendering of the card, flames, a monster, or something that is indicative to gaming - thus "tricking" the average consumer into thinking this card will be a more than adequate upgrade to play Modern Warfare 2 for the handicapped desktop they just purchased. Not only does it come with 1 gig of vram, but the dragon on the box means it will be extra fast!

Another priceless marketing strategy at work. We have to give them credit, they know their stuff. For the unsophisticated consumers they target, 1GB memory + Dragon in the box = GAME ON!

My box had a hot chick on the box and not a dragon. Does this mean I can't game on it and probably only watch pron or something?

Was it a hot chick with a sword and/or some sort of armor (which itself may or may not be sexy looking)?

If yes, then game on.

If no, then you are most likely correct.

😀

I'm guessing its a Sapphire, so she probably had a gun....

My wife gives me a look whenever I get a new Sapphire card lol

I got ripped off then, I just bought a vapor-x 4890 and all I got was a stupid penguin.

Take it back and get the 4350 OC 1 gig with the hot chick holding the sword in one hand a leash attached to a dragon in the other hand. Then not only will you not be ripped off, but you can game and porn at the same time!@#$
