I think you ought to edit your thread title, so people don't come in here getting all excited and thinking they can get one right now :p.

The 4870 has a dual-slot design with heat exhausted outside the case, the reference 4850 keeps the heat in the case so you can bake little pies and cakes.

So basically the give you a double slot cooler and take away the easy bake oven feature away......

I wanted to bake a few cupcakes too. ;(

Yea, everything is the same as the 4850. Except the core of the 4870 is 750 and the memory is clocked at 3600 :Q

Was anyone able to buy one before they took it down ? Why do I have a funny feeling the price won't be $309 when it is put back up on newegg?

if they don't charge at least $350 for starters on this card I'd be very surprised. With gddr5 availability so limited and an absolute annihilation of its competition we all know what gouge egg will do...

Either way, good news! It is just matter of time when these cards will be available, and we have new $299 champion. I'm happy for AMD, there's great interest for their 48x0 series!

Wonder how much money AMD is making on these cards? Enough to pull them through these tough times?

Dunno but a store near my house has sold 32 4850's and ran out of stock.

I just love how ATI has put a shock to Nvidia this time around. I am not bias to either side, but I enjoy the competition and little tricks that are being pulled out of the bag due to the level of success so far in the HD4000 series
