I'm sensing price gouging all around once again

Wow that's quite a jump. I better just leave mine on order from Frys and cross my fingers.

how much did you pay at fry's? swtethan got 4 3870's for 225 shipped yesterday and I got one also at newegg. they went in and out of stock all day, and offered the powercolor card later in the day.

I checked this am and the sapphire card shows as "in stock", at least until you click on it...it's now oos, too. Personally, the way the egg is holding the line on prices, I would not pay over 225 shipped for a 3870 right now. If they were going to run out they would start jacking up the price. Clearly they have an even more monstrous supply than usual. I theorized last night that they worked out a deal with amd to keep prices at msrp in exchange for guaranteed stock. That might be a little too "anti-capitalist", maybe it's just that the card makers know that everyone is checking newegg before going to the other sites.

Bought 2 for 482.00 with overnight shipping. They are 10.00 higher on Frys's than at the egg.

This whole going in and out of stock crap is very annoying.

Any Canadians in here please speak up with info on retailers who service Canada please. I'm really looking only for the Powercolor Xtreme cards.

I really don't know why AMD even released this many 3850 256MBs, knowing the RV670 chip is in short supply.

There should have been only 512MB 3850s and priced around $200 since there is plenty of demand, as seen by the 8800GT sales.

Well my order at Fry's shows backordered now. I think I will just cancel it and wait for the egg to get them in stock.

I have dibs on 3850, but I'm waiting for $160 or below price :D Then again, I am pretty poor

Well I have decided to let my order stand at Fry's . They said that they contacted the vendor and expect them to come in on 11/20. I do still keep checking the egg for in stock but no go . I imagine they are waiting on shipments also now. Kind of makes me mad that the 3870's were in such short supply.

Sounds like the 8800GT all over again...they went out of stock in the initial MSRP $229-249 prices in various e-tailers. Then, the prices rose...

If you guys got a good deal for an HD3870 for MSRP prices but it's backordered, don't cancel. I say hold on to that order unless you see a good deal for the card that's in stock, something tells me there might be some price gouging unless AMD's claims of half a million boards are true.

how long does it take diamond multimedia to ship videocards? I order my 3870 last night, around 7pm or so. I went on their website to check my order status. all it says it process. I was hoping my card would have shipped today.

That is exactly why I am letting my order stand unless I manage to get a couple ordered off the egg. But I bet now they are all waiting on shipments.

Ncix had the HIS 3870 in Canada, but out of everything now. Am kicking myself as it looks like at least 3 weeks until any more in stock. Not a great launch here.

I still say to keep checking the egg. They are now $30 cheaper than anybody. It's just not like them to keep their prices low like that with no inventory. Put yourself on the "notice" list for all of the 3870's they have and see if they send you an email.

Too bade "The Egg" doesn't deal well with Canadian orders. Anyways I've heard that next week the Powercolor overclocked 3850 & 3870 will be available hopefully for a reasonable price and local.

why would you get a factory overclocked unit that is only overclocked by a couple %??? 775 to 800 core is what, 3 %? 2250 up to 2400 is nice but the powercolor, HIS, and diamond 3870's are already there standard. How much more will they charge, $20? that's creeping up too close to 8800gt territory for me, anyway.

Agreed. I wonder where my head was at. I'll pick up a "Regular" one.
