radeon 32 Mb upgrade

I just bought a Radeon 32MB accelerator card, installed it in my PCI slot, my computer recognized new hardware, went to updating system, then instructed me to restart. After restarting it freezes on the Windows Me page, nothing I do will get it any farther. Am I neglecting to do something with my installation, I am computer illiterate, so be gentle
 
Oh come on, I know that I'm new, but help a fella out. I originally bought a Radeon DDR 64MB, but don't have AGP slot.
