Just an FYI, but this driver is now listed as an option for driver switching with Vega FE. I haven't gotten it to work yet, though.

I finally got 18.2.1 to work via driver switching from the 2018 Q1 drivers for Vega FE.

For those who are familiar with Vega FE and the "generally accepted" method for driver switching without incident, I can only say that I was forced to do things differently than I had before to get things to work.

The old procedure I was taught was to:

Code:
Uninstall display device from Device Manager, and delete driver software. Repeat this as often as necessary until the OS until Windows loads the generic VGA adapter drivers
Reboot
Uninstall Radeon software via the AMD Install Manager under Apps & Features
Reboot
Install Vega FE drivers, using Custom mode (agree to allow driver switching)
Reboot
Install (but don't install + switch) latest build of gaming drivers after searching for them via Radeon Pro Settings under the Driver Options panel
Reboot(?)
Switch driver mode to the gaming drivers you just installed
Reboot

Following these instructions lead to the "usual" failed driver switch: the system would hang during the driver switch portion of the above instructions; upon rebooting, the gaming driver would be installed, but Radeon Settings would not be available at all, making the driver switch mostly pointless.

After several failed attempts to follow the above instructions, I tried cleaning everything up with DDU and going back to 17.12.2 which ALSO failed in the same way (?!?!?). I then "Clean Installed" 18 Q1 drivers over the broken vestiges of the 17.12.2 gaming driver, rebooted, and used the "install and switch" option under Radeon Pro Settings/Driver Options. Normally this is taboo. The first time I selected the option, it simply did nothing. The second time, it worked, and it prompted me to reboot. Viola! Working 18.2.1 gaming drivers on my Vega FE.

Very frustrating. It's a shame I have to go through this every time I do a Win10 build update . . .
